Salutation and Summary:

Hello! I'm Daniel, I currently work Quality Assurance for IBM Flex System elements. Ultimately I aim to become a Software Engineer and use my testing and programming skills to develop software in a competitive environment where I will be able to collaborate with others to effectively develop software, web, and database applications using Linux and Windows platforms.

Current Position, Education, and Technical Skills:

Hardware Test Technician, IBM contractor through CTG, (July 2011-Present):

  • Tested IBM Flex System hardware:
    1. Blades: x220, x222, x240, x440
    2. Chassis management module
    3. Flex System Manager
    4. I/O Modules, Mezz cards, fans, and power supplies
  • Write python and bash scripts to automate tasks and tests. One script used pexpect to automate logging into IMM web interface a huge number of number of times to cause the event log to fill up and create "event log full" messages. Another script I wrote gathered information such as firmware, IP address, and machine type from multiple blades across multiple chassis at once. This helped to easily monitor firmware levels to ensure they were where it should be.
  • Completed manual and automated test plans on blade server hardware and software.
  • Communicated with developers to debug and fix issues found during testing.
  • Documented defects found during testing so they could be reproduced and debugged remotely by developers.
  • Flashed firmware to update and maintain blade servers, network cards, and switches for testing.
  • Installed and configured operating systems on blade servers for testing. (Windows, Rhel, Sles, VMware)
